Today I went to the bathroom in the Melbourne Central shopping mall. At first, everything seemed normal. But when I tried to leave the stall, the door wouldn’t open. Fuck. What do I do. Panic started to set in.
I pushed the door again, this time more carefully, thinking someone might be blocking it. Still, it didn’t budge. I tried using more force, but it still wouldn’t open. As my panic increased, I took a moment to calm down and assess the situation. I noticed that part of the door attachment looked broken, possibly causing the issue. I tried holding it in place while opening the door, but after two minutes of no success, I considered other options.
Perhaps I could squeeze through a small opening. I tried, and it actually worked. First I got through, then my backpack. Just as I exited, another guy walked in, looking at me curiously. Nervously, I explained the door issue to him. He then calmly pointed out, “Mate, you gotta open the door inwards, not outwards.” He was right. The door easily opened inward.
This experience taught me that sometimes, stopping to think outside the box and being open to different possibilities is better than just pushing through. The seemingly hard things can be easy once you know how. I’ll remember this lesson for my personal life and business.
